WASHINGTON DC – Donald Trump tweeted this afternoon that the paintings in the White House are watching him.”It is another instance of the Obama administration meddling in the affairs of the new president,” said Sean Spicer in a press conference soon afterward.”Obama wiretapped Trump during his campaign – it definitely happened – and the president believes the paintings are a part of that surveillance.” Spicer also noted that the painting of Hillary Clinton has a particular presence and her eyes often dart around the room.
Trump is not the first president to find the art collection in the White House to be unnerving. Ronald Reagan allegedly had four paintings of former senators burned because they were whispering to him at night. Gerald Ford is known as well to have held seances in the East Wing to remove the spirit of Thomas Jefferson from Albert Bierstadt’s 1881 Old Faithful. – CQ
